Liverpool has brought through some good players in recent seasons, but it appears that fans will not see much of teenage forward Elijah Gift.
The adolescent has been dubbed “one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the Liverpool academy.”
The Reds, however, have lost Gift to La Liga, with the youngster signing with Athletico Bilbao.
Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed the news on Twitter tonight, explained how Gift has signed a deal at Bilbao until 2028. There is no mention of a cost for Liverpool, although a physical has been performed.
Gift, described as a ‘dynamic player who can play on either flank’ on Liverpool’s youth pages, is certainly hoping for greater opportunities in Spain.

Gift had only recently turned 17 years old. Whether or not his decision to go to Spain pays off will be determined by the length of the contract he signed.

It’s usually difficult for big clubs to keep all of their top young players, and it appears that Gift saw the prospect of a lucrative contract abroad as too appealing.
To be fair, a five-year contract with a major La Liga team is a terrific deal. There will be some disappointment for Liverpool here.
Gift, on the other hand, will see it as an opportunity to break into the first-team in Bilbao and make a difference.
Certainly, he is someone Liverpool fans should keep an eye on in the coming years.
