‘Crazy’ – Journalist: Ferguson did not leave Auchenhowie until after 2am on Rangers’ first day.

Barry Ferguson has been working hard behind the scenes since his appointment as Rangers’ temporary manager.

Rangers had little choice but to fire Philippe Clement following the disastrous campaign at Ibrox this season.

With a 16-point league margin, the Light Blues are light years away from being a team capable of challenging Celtic for trophies.

When Clement’s resignation was revealed, worries arose as to how the Gers would find his replacement, with Ferguson the man they picked until the end of the season, and it looks he has devoted himself to ensuring they had as strong a finish as possible.

Ferguson is already hard at work for Rangers.
Ferguson has a massive challenge ahead of him to get Rangers back on track, but it looks that he is prepared to put in the hard work to do so.

According to a source in the print version of the Daily Record (26 February, page 49), Ferguson stayed at the training facility until the early hours of Tuesday morning before facing Kilmarnock.

Andy Newport stated, “The ex-captain and his new squad of famous aides – Allan McGregor, Neil McCann, and Billy Dodds – didn’t leave themselves until after 2 a.m. as they began stitching together a game plan for tonight’s confrontation with another of their old comrades, Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes.

“Some would say he’s crazy to take the job on, especially given Ferguson himself admits he’d all but given up on a return to management after an ill-fated spell in charge of League One Alloa ended in resignation three years ago.”

Rangers’ league play has been hit-and-miss this season, so Ferguson will be well conscious of the necessity to deliver victories in order to turn the foreboding mood on its head.

Kilmarnock will put the Light Blues through another physical and mental test, one for which everyone must be well prepared.

The 49ers will have a significant decision to make this summer.
If the 49ers succeed in their effort to become the Rangers’ next majority owner, the managerial position will demand immediate correction come the summer.

Steven Gerrard has been linked with a comeback, but there will certainly be numerous more applicants vying for the role.
