Collin Chandler is expected to have a breakthrough year.

Collin Chandler is Coming for a Breakout Year

Year two is when the stars start to shine and for Kentucky’s Collin Chandler, the spotlight is getting brighter by the day.

After redshirting his freshman year to complete a two-year mission trip, Chandler arrived in Lexington last season with plenty of questions surrounding his game readiness. But it didn’t take long for BBN to see the flashes. His smooth shooting stroke, relentless energy, and high basketball IQ hinted at something bigger just beneath the surface.

Now, heading into his second year on the floor, Chandler looks ready to explode.

“He’s going to be special,” head coach Mark Pope said earlier this offseason. “What he brings in terms of shooting, pace, and maturity he’s just different.”

And the numbers support it. In limited action last season, Chandler showed strong efficiency and steady growth, displaying an elite feel for spacing and off-ball movement. He made timely shots, showed no fear on the defensive end, and quickly became a fan favorite for his hustle.

But it’s what’s happening behind the scenes that’s most exciting.

Chandler has been grinding this offseason hitting the weight room, sharpening his jumper, and working tirelessly to become a key rotation piece in one of the deepest backcourts in college basketball. The 6-foot-4 guard brings length, confidence, and a chip on his shoulder and now, with a full season under his belt, the runway is clear for takeoff.

“Collin’s got that motor you dream about,” one staffer said. “And he’s only just getting started.”

With Kentucky reloading and chasing banners under Mark Pope, Chandler is expected to play a major role. Whether it’s as a spark plug off the bench or a surprise breakout starter, don’t be shocked if No. 5 becomes one of the most talked-about names in the SEC.

🔥 The second-year leap is real.
