Celtic Makes a Startling Switch After Losing a “Crucial” Star

In the Scottish Premiership and the race for a UEFA Champions League playoff spot, Celtic is far ahead of the pack. But since Kyogo Furuhashi is leaving, the team has agreed to a trade with Rennes that would alter their offensive lineup.

The specifics of this transfer operation have been revealed by Fabrizio Romano. Kyogo Furuhashi will be traded by Celtic for former star Jota, who will rejoin the team. Kyogo Furuhashi, who will cost more than £8.4 million, is set to leave Celtic and sign with Rennes.


Jota will be acquired by the Scottish league leaders at the same time for a comparable price with an additional 10% sell-on clause.





During his three complete seasons with the Hoops, Furuhashi has been the team’s leading scorer. He maintains that standing in the league, and supporters may have worried about their striker’s absence for the remainder of the season.


Nonetheless, the supporters recognize Jota. He moved to Saudi Arabia in 2023 after playing alongside Furuhashi for two years under Ange Postecoglou.

He had a brief time with Al-Ittihad and has been a peripheral player at Rennes, scoring just one goal in ten games.
