Liverpool have received a boost as midfielder Arthur Melo is expected to return from injury sooner than planned
Jurgen Klopp’s team have had a difficult start to the Premier League season. The Reds are sixth in the Premier League, seven points behind Tottenham Hotspur for the final Champions League position, and 15 points behind Arsenal at the top.
While several Liverpool players, particularly combative center midfielder Fabinho, have struggled with injuries this season, a huge portion of the squad has been out injured at various stages.
Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita have all been absent from Liverpool’s midfield. In turn youths, Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho have deputised in their absence.
Liverpool, on the other hand, has been encouraged by a rare bit of good fitness news.
Arthur to return?
Arthur’s agents have claimed the Brazilian could return from injury sooner than planned.
The 26-year-old, who arrived on loan from Juventus on transfer deadline day, has played just 13 minutes for the Reds having incurred an injury just weeks after making the switch to Merseyside.
In September, the player suffered an injury in training that necessitated surgery, with reports indicating he may be out for up to four months. A return would consequently be expected before the end of January.
However, Arthur’s agents, Federico and Andrea Pastorello, have claimed that the player could return from injury sooner than planned.
“He is a driven lad, and proof of this is the fact that he is forging forward to get back on the pitch, he is three weeks ahead of plan,” TuttoMercatoWeb added.
“He recovered 30% faster than anticipated, and he should be ready for the start of the new championship.”
