Liverpool has “made such a strong case” to recruit England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund because they consider him “one of the very greatest midfielders in the world of football.”
According to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was cited by GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool must “reach high” when making acquisitions.
Jones claims that Bellingham, who the Reds had reportedly been following “since his Birmingham days,” would surprise him if the Reds chose to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
“The thing with Liverpool is they have to aim high in the transfer market and in Bellingham, they see one of the very best young midfielders in international football,” the insider stated in a statement to GIVEMESPORT.
“They’ve already made such a compelling case for signing him. Since they have been following him since his time at Birmingham, it would surprise me if they decided to sign Caicedo instead of him.
“The greatest of the best”
Even though Bellingham is yet to make an impact in terms of attacking contributions, he is already emerging as a somewhat talismanic figure for Borussia Dortmund and has dominated his third and much-anticipated final season in the Bundesliga.
Bellingham, who leads his team in average of 2.2 shots per 90 and 1.4 xG, has simply established himself in both phases of the game and is in fact pounding on the door of the opponent to open his Bundesliga goalscoring account this season.
However, it is his ability to advance the ball that has caused his stock to soar once more. His 3.2 successful dribbles per 90 minutes on average and 6.0 chances generated, of which 2.0 were major chances, are proof of this.
The 19-year-old, who will be looking to build on his performance from the previous season, in which he hit 11 attacking returns in the form of three goals and eight assists across 32 Bundesliga appearances, despite operating as a pivot in a 4-2-3-1 system, is showing promising signs in terms of end product.
Bellingham’s future is undeniably promising, and given Liverpool’s strategic approach to the transfer market, you would anticipate the Reds to complete this acquisition of “one of the very finest” players next summer.
