Before Rangers vs. Celtic, a pundit criticizes Clement’s remarks, saying, “Don’t think you should say that.”

Philippe Clement has come under fire from Stephen McGinn for remarks he made about Rangers’ financial status prior to games against Tottenham and Celtic

The Gers have won eight straight games in all competitions, including thrilling victories over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership and Nice in the Europa League.

Fans have accused Clement of making excuses immediately after he said that the club’s financial discrepancy was the reason for their 11-point league standings deficit to Celtic and their challenging Europa League matchup.

McGinn remarked, “I don’t think you should say that, especially fresh off the back of beating Ross County,” on the Go Radio Football Show [December 10]. Starting to look at finances is never a good idea.

For Philippe Clement, Sunday is the main focus this week. Kilmarnock and Spurs are a fantastic match to watch on their own, regardless of how many times you defeat St Johnstone.

However, Sunday is crucial for Clement and his Rangers future. I don’t see where he goes if they lose to Celtic because many people have already lost faith in him.

Before important Rangers games, Philippe Clement makes excuses.
In recent weeks, the Belgian has frequently been criticized for his justifications, particularly given the challenging start the Gers had to the 2024–25 season.

Even if the Light Blues’ situation is suddenly improving, Clement continues to make the same justifications, fully aware that if things don’t work out this week, fans will be demanding his dismissal.

Before playing the Hoops in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday, December 15, the Gers must play Spurs in the Europa League on Thursday, December 12. These days are jam-packed with action.

These are the games, though, in which they must compete and emerge victorious if Clement is serious about leading this contingent to the next level.

Despite the recent wave of wins, the manager is already feeling increasingly pressured, and losing to their fiercest adversary in a cup final might be the final straw for him at Ibrox.
