After Rangers’ historic cup loss to Hamilton, Graeme Souness managed to avoid firing, but unlike Philippe Clement, he had already returned the league title to the team.
The manager has already been the target of requests for his dismissal, and the jeering that is going on around Ibrox is a perfect example of how the supporters currently feel.
Although Clement believed that his resignation or dismissal would have an impact, Patrick Stewart’s remarks imply that his position at Rangers may not be completely secure.
Philippe Clement has already received a threat from Patrick Stewart. Less than a month ago, the CEO spoke about the manager’s role and the necessity to alter the hiring and firing cycle. But Clement’s support came with a disclaimer:
We run the risk of simply returning to the same position in a year, 18 months, or however long it takes, Stewart said, if we move hastily and reactively each time there are some subpar outcomes. “But let me be clear: I’m not claiming that everything is great, and I understand that the fans are frustrated. “We would never, ever choose a boss based on budgetary considerations.
Since enhancing results is the main goal of football, I’m not making any promises regarding tenure length.
“It would be foolish of me to declare that we retain any employee regardless of performance since Philippe and I have already had that conversation. Naturally, it is results-based, but we all want to collaborate to make that better, so that is what we are concentrating on right now.
Is the loss to Queen’s Park the last straw? Clement cannot argue if Stewart determines that enough is enough in a results-driven industry. After all, posting Rangers’ worst-ever home performance in a domestic cup tournament is about as bad as it gets.
the first loss versus lower league opponents at home. Although the results did improve, Clement is forced to make adjustments at halftime nearly every time when it counts.
Even while the loss to Queen’s Park is sufficient to fire most managers, it shouldn’t be overlooked; rather, it should be the last straw.
