After a disappointing loan spell that resulted in only 13 minutes of first-team action, Liverpool supporters may yet see Arthur play at Anfield next season.
On deadline day last summer, the Brazilian inked a 12-month loan agreement with the Reds, but a long-term muscle ailment ended his prospects of making a competitive start for the Reds.
Following confirmation of his departure this summer, the midfielder expressed his appreciation to the club and supporters, but recent rumours imply that there may still be unfinished business in England.
According to the Daily Mail, Arthur has stated that he wants to stay in England next season, despite reports that two Premier League teams are interested in signing him.
It opens the door for Arthur to make his first appearance at Anfield since joining in the summer of 2022, with his previous appearance coming from the bench in the legendary 4-0 Champions League semi-final triumph against Barcelona in 2019.
The 26-year-old returned to his original club Juventus after appearing as a substitute for the Reds in their 4-1 loss to Napoli.
Arthur said last month that he wanted to be able to say “goodbye” to Liverpool fans after failing to make a home appearance for the club.
Earlier this month, it was rumoured that Arthur had played his final game for Juventus, with the centre-midfielder not being included in manager Massimiliano Allegri‘s “tactical plans” for next season.
It leaves the Brazilian international looking for a new club for next season, despite the fact that he is presently the sixth most expensive midfielder of all time, having joined Juventus for about £72.5 million from Barcelona in 2020.
According to reports, he wants to stay in England next season to try to get his first Premier League debut after an unsatisfactory tenure on Merseyside.
While the two interested parties have yet to be identified, Liverpool supporters may wait with bated breath to learn if Arthur will receive his Anfield goodbye.
The Reds have already taken steps to refill the midfield area with the arrival of Alexis MacAllister, but it was evident months ago that Arthur would not be part of the plans for 2023/24, despite the club having a £32 million option to make the agreement permanent.
