Duke’s Kyle Filipowski Shines Bright in Las Vegas, Earns Summer League MVP Honors
Second-year Utah Jazz forward and former Duke standout Kyle Filipowski delivered a dominant performance in Las Vegas, earning MVP honors for the NBA 2K26 Summer League. The former Blue Devil, who played two seasons in Durham from 2022 to 2024, was nothing short of sensational, showcasing his evolution as a rising NBA star.
Filipowski was the only Duke product named to the Summer League First Team, and he more than earned the recognition. Over three games with the Jazz, the 21-year-old big man averaged an impressive 29.3 points, shooting 56.1% from the field, 39.1% from three, and 62.5% at the line, while also contributing 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest. It was a major leap from his rookie season stats in Utah, where he posted a solid 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

His standout showing capped off a stellar summer for recent Duke talent on the NBA stage. Cooper Flagg went No. 1 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, and Kon Knueppel, selected fourth by the Charlotte Hornets, claimed MVP honors in the Summer League championship game on Sunday night. Knueppel was named to the Summer League Second Team, following a strong run in Las Vegas.
With Filipowski leading the way, Duke’s impact on the next generation of NBA stars is looking stronger than ever.
