Andrew Shinnie reveals he’s’really thrilled’ for Celtic’s summer addition who’s proving critics wrong.

Brendan Rodgers seemed to have made some wise signings for Celtic this summer during the transfer window

The Celtic manager added seven new faces to the squad, breaking the club’s transfer record twice as he sought to enhance the team for the next season.

Spending £11 million on Arne Engels, £9.5 million on Adam Idah, and £6 million on Auston Trusty dominated the headlines this summer, but it appears that the £1 million addition of Luke McCowan has impressed Livingston striker Andrew Shinnie the most.

McCowan ‘will perform fantastic’ for Celtic
McCowan is fulfilling the ambition of all Celtic fans. A Celtic supporter himself, the former Dundee captain signed for his boyhood club late on deadline day and has already made two appearances for Brendan.

And, following his goal in the 2-0 win over Hearts and his debut against Rangers, Shinnie believes McCowan has already proven critics wrong since his massive Parkhead move.

When asked for his weekend highlight, Shinnie told The Scottish Football Podcast, “I was going to go with Luke McCowan scoring for Celtic.” I was quite pleased for him because he is a fantastic player.

“And I think people sort of thought he wouldn’t get many minutes when he joined Celtic, so not written off, but thinking he’ll have midfielders ahead of him, but I think he’ll do great for Celtic.”

McCowan’s potential with Celtic
Many people believe that at the age of 26, a player’s potential has already been realized, but with Rodgers at Celtic, fans have witnessed firsthand how the Irishman can enhance players of all ages.

The Celtic supporters witnessed it with Scott Brown during Rodgers’ first stay at Celtic, and they have seen it again this season with the significant improvements in Matt O’Riley, Alistair Johnston, and, of course, Callum McGregor.

McCowan, dubbed ‘one of the best’ players in the country, appears to be on the verge of breaking out and making a significant contribution to Celtic’s pursuit of ongoing domestic dominance and European advancement.
