Jordan Henderson claims that James Milner is the best player at Liverpool during training
Milner is well-known for his dedication to training, regularly triumphing in fitness and endurance tests. When asked to name the best trainer at Liverpool in a fan Q&A with Sky Sports, Henderson didn’t hesitate.
“I’d say Milly’s always going at it in training,” the Reds captain said. “Milly’s always at it.” 37 years old and still blowing everyone away. Never, ever change, Milly.
Milner is planning to leave a gaping hole.
According to recent reports, Henderson will have to find a new favorite trainer for the club next season. According to The Athletic, Milner is being pursued by Brighton, who are ‘determined’ to sign him.
After eight years at Anfield, the vice-captain will be a difficult man to replace. Henderson’s latest testimony highlights what Milner brings to the table even when he is not playing.
The former England international is always pushing those around him to do better. He maintains high standards and holds players accountable for lack of effort or quality.
It may not be glamorous, but a winning team requires characters like these. Jurgen Klopp has previously stated that Liverpool would be unable to win as many trophies without Milner. Some may disagree, but Klopp should be aware.
If Liverpool’s No.7 does leave this summer, it is not expected to be with the approval of his manager. According to the Athletic, Klopp is still interested in keeping Milner for another season.
Jurgen’s wishes appear unlikely to be granted at this time. That may be for the best in the long run. But someone has to step up and do the important job he does for Liverpool.
