Details of Alexis Mac Allister’s transfer to Liverpool have been reported by reliable media in his home country, including the fee, wages, and contract length
The World Cup winner has been the subject of much speculation ahead of the upcoming transfer window, as Jurgen Klopp plans to revamp his midfield options.
Mac Allister’s current deal with the Seagulls expires in the summer of 2025, but it appears increasingly likely that he will be playing his football elsewhere next season.
According to Argentine newspaper La Nacion, the 24-year-old will command a fee of around £60 million and a weekly wage of £100,000 on a five-year contract.
The deal would also include a one-year extension option, making Mac Allister the fourth most expensive Argentine transfer of all time.
This comes after TyC Sports reported that a deal to bring the World Cup winner to Anfield was “already complete.”
Last month, Mac Allister’s agent and father claimed that the midfielder is “most likely” to leave Brighton this summer, with Liverpool’s interest growing in subsequent reports.
Chelsea were also said to be among a number of clubs interested in signing the midfielder, with the Reds expected to sign him ahead of a number of Premier League rivals.
Liverpool appear set to sign several high-profile midfielders this summer, following the departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita last week.
There are also concerns about the fitness and age of several midfielders who will remain at the club next season.
Liverpool’s midfield options currently include Jordan Henderson (32), Thiago (32), Fabinho (29), Curtis Jones (22), Harvey Elliott (20), and Stefan Bajcetic (18), indicating a dearth of players in their prime years.
Mac Allister appears to be a key target for Klopp’s rebuild in the middle of the park, with Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch, and Matheus Nunes among those linked with a move to Anfield.
The Reds will hope to secure any potential new signings as soon as the season ends in order to ease integration into the squad during pre-season.
