Liverpool have agreed to enhance Federico Chiesa’s salary if he joins them this summer

Chiesa has emerged as a surprising target for the Reds as they want to improve their offensive line. And, as they apparently consider a proposal for the Juventus player, Sport Mediaset claims to have contacted his agency.

According to the Italian newspaper, Liverpool has already established ‘initial contact’ with Chiesa’s representative Fali Ramadani. When meeting with Ramadani, the Reds are alleged to have offered a ‘promise’ to the 25-year-old that they would pay him a wage that Juventus could not.

While Liverpool has made assurances to Chiesa, West Ham and Newcastle are also said to be interested in signing him. However, the Italy international is said to be uninterested in joining either club.

A transfer would reportedly cost the Reds between £43 and £51 million. This is said to be less crucial to Juve than the probable sale of Dusan Vlahovic, but it is still important to them.

Liverpool makes a promise to Chiesa
According to Salary Sport, Chiesa earns $54,000 per week at Juventus. If that is the case, Liverpool would be able to easily increase his wage.

Should he sign with the Reds, he would not be an immediate starter. Jurgen Klopp has plenty of other top-tier attackers to choose from, so the Euro 2020 champion would have to prove himself.

As a result, he should not expect a salary comparable to Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, or Mohamed Salah.

Nonetheless, Liverpool might make a transfer worthwhile for him without breaking the bank.

In terms of a transfer fee, it does not appear to be a budget breaker for the Reds. A new attacker isn’t their top priority this summer, but for a guy as talented as Chiesa, they might make an exception.

It’s true that he hasn’t been in top form lately. But he’s still a player who was recently described as’really special’ by the legendary Gigi Buffon [Gazzetta dello Sport]. That’s someone worth having on the team.

There’s been a lot of buzz about this one in recent days; let’s see if there’s something to it.
