After Rangers defeats Dundee 1-0, Lawrence Shankland gives the player a two-word message.

Following Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Dundee United, goalie Liam Kelly received a telegram from Lawrence Shankland.

Following Jack Butland’s injury during the pre-game warm-up at Ibrox on Saturday [21 December], the 28-year-old was added to the starting lineup late.

Since the summer transfer window [HITC], Shankland has been connected to the Gers, and his response to Kelly’s Instagram post [21 December] will surely stoke speculation about a possible move as January draws near.

It’s nice, Liam, he remarked.

With Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane in high demand, Rangers may try to sign Lawrence Shankland in January, forcing Philippe Clement to go outside the team for a new forward.

The Nigerian has lost his spot in the starting lineup at Ibrox to Igamane, and with good reason. He has wasted too many opportunities for the Light Blues, and it is becoming more and more likely that he will leave in the middle of the season before January.

Nonetheless, Everton is leading the group of West Ham, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham, and Newcastle United that are monitoring the Moroccan international’s progress as the Premier League takes note of Igamane’s performances in the Europa League [TBR Football].

Rangers may need to make a move right away, even if Shankland’s contract with Hearts expires at the conclusion of the current campaign, and Clement could lose both of his center strikers in January.

With just three goals in 16 games so far this season, the 29-year-old has not been able to duplicate his 24 goals in the Scottish Premiership last season.

Since there aren’t many options available in January, Shankland would be the perfect addition should Rangers lose Igamane and/or Dessers when the transfer window opens. After all, quality doesn’t go away overnight, and he knows where the goal is, unlike some of the players now playing at Ibrox.
