After Liverpool’s mistake, I want Paul Tierney to skip this weekend’s Premier League games.

Part one of John Aldridge’s weekly piece discusses Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth and Alexis Mac Allister’s dismissal

I’m hoping that the three points we got against Bournemouth on Saturday will be the start of many this year.

Even though there were some unsettling aspects of our performance, particularly the first 10 minutes, we managed to prevail. The squad responded fairly well, and throughout the course of 90 minutes, we persevered to win.

The fact that we are scoring goals is what matters most to me. Even if Chelsea was our sole opportunity, we are still improving and creating other opportunities. Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis MacAllister will be moved up the field once Klopp acquires the midfielder he desires.

Three guys up there, as opposed to our present strategy of three with Cody Gakpo dropping back, can improve the balance of the assault. To his credit, I felt Gakpo performed admirably on Saturday, although he is still getting acclimated to playing in the middle of the field and occasionally gets lost. We’ve had issues in the holding midfielder area in our last few games, and the club is seeking for that style of

I truly don’t know what can be said about the red card judgement or how Alexis Mac Allister was dismissed. I cannot understand that call.

There is absolutely no malice in it, hence it is not a red card. Mac Allister attempted to catch the ball but stumbled a bit. The Bournemouth player’s unfortunate demise also done Mac Allister no favors. With the exception of this choice, I honestly think the referee played well.

The problem began because Thomas Bramall, the referee, was not instructed by VAR to go to the monitor and watch the video. It won’t necessarily be turned around just because you go to the monitor, but at least go and take a look!

The game’s VAR was overseen by Paul Tierney, and it is widely known that we have had a number of problems with him in the past.

It all becomes clear from that. Red cards are identifiable by their color, but that isn’t all they are. Far worse difficulties have gone unpunished before.

Tierney viewed that tackle back and didn’t feel the need to overturn the on-field choice. Why should Premier League officials get away with making mistakes that can have such a significant impact on the outcome of games when football players and managers are held accountable for their actions? For the forthcoming weekend, Tierney should be relieved of duty.

Liverpool has already filed an appeal against the ruling, although it’s unclear if it will be successful. If you poll neutral supporters on whether Mac Allister should have been dismissed, you’ll probably find that 90% of them agree that the decision has to be reversed.
