LaNorris Sellers has been on a rapid rise ever since taking over as South Carolina’s starting quarterback last season. Heading into the 2025 campaign, he’s not only a key leader for the Gamecocks but also a serious Heisman Trophy candidate and a top prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft.
But with breakout success often comes outside interest. According to his father, Norris Sellers, the star QB turned down a staggering $8 million offer over two years to transfer from South Carolina this offseason.
In an interview with The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, Norris revealed that despite the lucrative offers, LaNorris chose to remain loyal to the program and continue building with head coach Shane Beamer.
And the pursuit didn’t stop there. According to Gamecock Central’s Mike Uva, several South Carolina players confirmed that teams continued trying to lure Sellers into the transfer portal even after spring practices — but he stayed put.
Sellers had an impressive debut season as a starter, completing 65.6% of his passes for more than 2,500 yards and 18 touchdowns, while also rushing for 674 yards and 7 scores. He helped lead the Gamecocks to their first 9-win season since 2017.
Now back for another year, Sellers is locked in on elevating South Carolina to new heights.
