Liverpool have yet to receive complete payment for the 2020 transfer of Rhian Brewster to Sheffield United

Brewster’s career has plummeted since joining United after he was a tremendously promising academy player at Liverpool. The Londoner is struggling up North, suffering from a slew of injuries as well as poor form on the field.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Sheffield United are still on the hook for an expensive transfer blunder.

They claim that United failed to make a recent payment related to Brewster’s transfer. It is stated that this is one of the reasons they were placed under a transfer embargo.

There is no further information on the amount of the missing payment or how much is still owed to Liverpool.

If the Yorkshire club is taken over, everything will supposedly return to normal. The Echo cites an article from The Times that implies this could happen soon.

Sheffield United are still paying for Brewster’s error.

Brewster’s departure in 2020 appeared to be a danger for United. As it turns out, it was a total and utter failure.

The striker, now twenty-two, is still young enough to turn things around. But, given that he’s only scored five goals in 63 appearances since joining the club two years ago, it doesn’t seem likely.

And to think he was once considered a viable option for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Brewster must be feeling a million miles away right now. Unfortunately, the financial consequences of his transfer are still being felt due to issues beyond his control.
