According to a report, representatives start transfer negotiations with a player who is desperate to join Rangers.

Niko Katic is reportedly eager to rejoin Rangers during the January transfer window, with his agent already initiating discussions about his future, according to the *Daily Record*.

The outlet revealed on 7 January that the Zurich defender’s preference is a return to Rangers, as conversations regarding his next move begin. With Philippe Clement under pressure to strengthen his squad for a better second half of the season, reinforcements like Katic could be crucial.

The *Record* described Katic as “desperate” to return to Ibrox, citing a source close to his representatives who said:

“We’ve had nothing concrete yet, but we’ve seen stories in the media. Of course, Niko would love to return to Rangers. We are currently in talks with several clubs, including one in England. However, if Rangers approach us, that would be Nikola’s priority. He still has 18 months left on his Zurich contract, but if it’s meant for him to return, he will.”

Could Katic Make a Rangers Comeback?
With the January window now open, Clement will be assessing potential signings to bolster the squad. At 28, Katic may have put himself back on the radar with his strong performances in the Swiss Super League, where he has made 18 appearances this season.

Katic’s previous spell at Rangers ended on a difficult note due to a serious ACL injury, which eventually led to his departure. However, his desire to return to Ibrox and pick up where he left off could make him an ideal fit.

Rangers are currently struggling with defensive options, as injuries to players like James Tavernier and John Souttar have left the backline thin. Katic, familiar with the club’s culture and expectations, could bring much-needed stability and experience during a critical period.

This potential move could help solve multiple problems for the Gers, offering a player who understands what it means to play for Rangers and who is determined to succeed in a blue shirt once again.
