Promising Freshman King Bacot Emerging as Potential First UNC Offer in 2029 Class
Though most major recruiting services have yet to release official rankings for the class of 2029, one name is already generating major buzz — King Bacot, a rising high school freshman with strong ties to the UNC basketball program.
It may be a year or more before Hubert Davis and his coaching staff begin extending offers for this cycle, but when they do, Bacot looks like a top contender to receive one of the first. Not only is he the younger brother of former Tar Heel standout Armando Bacot, a five-year cornerstone of the UNC program, but he’s also viewed by several insiders as a likely five-star prospect, with some even projecting him to debut at or near the top of the national rankings.
King Bacot’s early reputation is backed by an advanced skill set and a high basketball IQ well beyond his years. That potential was on full display last weekend, when the 6-foot-3 guard from Richmond, Virginia, led his team to a championship win at the Balling On The Beach showcase in Miami, as noted by Courtside Films in a highlight reel that captured the buzz around his performance.

Bacot’s growing list of Division I suitors now includes George Mason, marking his sixth official offer — and he’s only just entering high school. This summer, he’s gaining valuable experience playing up in age with Team Loaded 15U on the prestigious 3SSB Circuit, consistently matching up with older, more experienced competition.
All signs point to King Bacot becoming a headline name in the 2029 recruiting conversation — and given his family’s UNC legacy and elite upside, don’t be surprised if he ends up as the first Tar Heel offer of the cycle.
