A close friend of Novak Djokovic suggests a “big name coach” for the Serb before the 2025 campaign begins.

Novak Djokovic, who split with Goran Ivanisevic earlier this season, hasn’t had any well-known coaches

As the 2025 tennis season draws near, Viktor Troicki has provided some information on his close buddy and Davis Cup teammate Novak Djokovic’s squad. Even though the former World No. 1 won the Olympics in Paris, his 2024 season was difficult. But Djokovic has newfound hope going into 2025.

This hope may come from the prospect of Djokovic working with a well-known coach in early 2025, Troicki said. In an interview with Serbian local media, he made reference to this.

Djokovic’s experiences with well-known coaches have been uneventful. He signed Andre Agassi in 2017, but the two had little success together and parted ways a year later.

However, he had a very successful partnership with Goran Ivanisevic, the 2001 Wimbledon winner. Before splitting up in early 2024, they won 12 Grand Slam titles together. Elena Rybakina is now being coached by Ivanisevic.

The ranking of Novak Djokovic at the beginning of 2025 showed

The 2024 season for Novak Djokovic has brought attention to the difficulties of competing at 37. He has found it more difficult to stay up with the rise of younger players like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Although he secured a stunning triumph at the summer Olympics in Paris, Djokovic has not won any titles this year. He also had health problems, like as shoulder trouble and knee surgery, which prevented him from attending the Nitto and Rolex Paris Masters.

Djokovic is still quite competitive in spite of these setbacks. But 2025 will have a significant role in deciding his future. He still wants to win a 25th Grand Slam championship, but if he is unable to do it the next year, he may consider retiring. For the 24-time Grand Slam champion, time is of the essence.

Playing his best tennis, Djokovic will be seeded behind Sinner, Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev at the 2025 Australian Open. There have been concerns over Djokovic’s decision to forgo two important tournaments in which he was the defending champion. Although he has assured supporters that he is still focused on tennis, particularly Grand Slam competitions, his path in the Australian Open draw may be impacted by his starting position of seventh in the world rankings for the new season.

During this stage in his career, Djokovic is putting the Davis Cup and Grand Slam competitions first. He last won the Davis Cup in 2010 and is hoping to do so again. However, this is a difficult task due to the new format. Djokovic nearly won the Davis Cup last year, but Jannik Sinner stopped him in the closing moments in Malaga.
