According to Record, Liverpool already have an agreement in place to sign Enzo Fernandez this summer

The Argentine has been one of the World Cup’s standout performers, and this is a fascinating transfer rumorz that could dramatically revitalize Liverpool’s midfield.

Indeed, Fernandez appears to be a rising star, but the unfortunate reality is that he will not be cheap.

Yes, his £103 million release clause may not have to be satisfied, but in this day and age, you’re definitely not paying much less than that for a player like Fernandez.

Fernandez, a possible World Cup champion at the age of 21, is probably worth more than £50 million – and that is a very conservative estimate.

Of course, reports in the Portuguese press must be taken with a grain of salt because they are notorious to exaggerate, but every now and then they are bang on, so if Liverpool have agreed to sign Fernandez, a deal for Jude Bellingham must be off the table.

Not only are Fernandez and Bellingham similar players battling for the same position in the club, but the Argentine will undoubtedly consume the great majority of the Reds’ summer transfer budget unless a large sell is made.

Having said that, Liverpool don’t appear to have many really sellable assets at the time.

Mo Salah has recently signed a new contract, Virgil van Dijk is indispensable, Trent Alexander-Arnold will almost certainly spend his whole career at Anfield, and the likes of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are just just getting started.

When everything is said and done, it’s difficult to envisage Liverpool investing huge money on both Fernandez and Bellingham in the same transfer window, so if this Argentine speculation is accurate, Liverpool may have to say goodbye to signing Bellingham.

The Reds have failed to pick up a point in the Dubai Super Cup, having been defeated by Lyon in normal time and on penalties. Arsenal were proclaimed victors of the mini event earlier this week.

Today’s game, though, will be another useful practice for Liverpool, with Darwin Nunez returning to the bench ahead of a return to meaningful action against Manchester City next Thursday.

Caoimhin Kelleher remains in goal, with Alisson due to rejoin the group on Merseyside next week, along with the four other players who were eliminated from the World Cup in the quarter-finals.

The back four remains the same. The starting lineup has James Milner at right back, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez in the center, and Andy Robertson at left back.

Stefan Bajcetic returns to the starting lineup at No. 6, flanked by Harvey Elliott and Thiago.

The only change is in the front three, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replaces Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino

Fabio Carvalho joins the likes of Nunez and Naby Keita on the bench.

Jungdal, Bakayoko, Bakoune, Bennacer, Bozzolan, Tatarusanu, Vrancx, Simic, El Hilali are the substitutes.
