Before Thursday at 11:59 p.m., Manchester United is trying to provide Erik ten Hag further transfer support
It has been reported that Manchester United’s negotiations to acquire Odysseas Vlachodimos have broken down as they focus on acquiring Martin Dubravka from Newcastle. Erik ten Hag wants a different goalkeeper to compete with David De Gea for a starting position, especially after the decision to loan Dean Henderson out. The Red Devils are now on the verge of securing their man…
To keep De Gea on his toes, they are considering a late move for a goalkeeper as the Spanish international has let seven goals in four Premier League games this season.
Newcastle’s Dubravka is about to join United, and personal agreements have already been reached with the Slovakian international.
As they move on to the Toon shot-stopper, Fabrizio Romano now claims in a tweet that negotiations for Vlachodimos have “collapsed.”
Odysseas Vlachodimos is highly valued by Benfica, and talks with United have broken down as a result of Dubravka’s signing by Ajax, he claimed.
“Vlachodimos, number one on the Ajax list as it was made public a week ago.”
Henderson made it obvious that he didn’t want to be De Gea’s understudy for another season, which led United to opt to loan him out earlier in the summer window.
The England international has had a successful first few weeks at Nottingham Forest, having already saved two penalties.
Henderson recently criticized United for how they had treated him over the previous 12 months.
He told talkSPORT, “I didn’t want the manager to come in and watch me in training.”
“I attempted to finish everything before I departed for the season since I knew he would likely want to keep me.
“I informed everyone in the hierarchy that I needed to leave and play football because I didn’t want to be the supporting actor here.
“Everything was preplanned. The manager entered through the door just as I was about to leave, and I haven’t spoken to him since.
“To be honest, these past 12 months have definitely been the most difficult of my professional life. It’s been quite difficult, and I’m relieved to have survived it. I’m eager to get started and am so happy to be here.
“You’re coming back here to be the number one goalie,” the person in the Euros squad told me.
“I got Covid, come back, I should have still been number one, but sadly nobody did whatever they said they would do,” the speaker said.
“It was difficult because they wouldn’t let me leave and I rejected down so many wonderful loans last summer because of that. Therefore, it was annoying. At my age, it’s very terrible to just sit around and waste a whole year.
“I was enraged. But in order to consistently improve, both off the field and on the practice field, I put in a lot of effort. I’m therefore quite happy to be here. I’m excited to spend the season with Forest.
Veteran Lee Grant, another goalie for United, left the team this summer.
Jose Mourinho signed the 39-year-old back in the summer of 2018 and he is now free to leave.
And as a result, Dubravka is ready to take on De Gea.
The Newcastle player will become their sixth addition of the summer window whenever a deal is finalized for him.
The first player to arrive was Tyrell Malacia, a Netherlands international who joined from Feyenoord after initially seemed likely to sign with Lyon.
Then Christian Eriksen did the same, leaving his brief stay at Brentford in favor of a free transfer to Old Trafford.
The third player United brought in was Lisandro Martinez, a former Ajax standout who turned down offers from Arsenal in favor of another chance to work with Ten Hag.
