Paul Merson has pushed Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou to sign Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez, while Harry Kane is heading in the opposite direction
The topic was Harry Kane’s future and why he shouldn’t join Bayern Munich, with one analyst suggesting that the England captain should join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Merson initially rebuffed the notion, but then stated that Julian Alvarez may be sent to Tottenham as a “softener,” with the champions of England eventually acquiring their man, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (08/08/23 at 7:10 p.m.).
Guardiola did everything to sign England captain Daniel Levy a few years ago, but Levy refused to let go of his player.
However, now that Kane’s contract has expired, the cards are no longer on the table, which is why Levy has been in talks with Bayern Munich about perhaps selling his star player to the Bundesliga champions.

Merson recently discussed Kane’s probable move to Bayern, and now he has reacted to the possibility of him joining Man City alongside Treble winner Alvarez.
“Unless Tottenham turns around and says, ‘We’re willing to give you Kane and then you give us Alvarez,'” Merson noted. “As a softener, because Alvarez will score goals.”

Spurs should continue with Kane.
A player like Alvarez would be great for Tottenham Hotspur or any other major Premier League club, but Guardiola would not allow him go.
