The management has already signed Micky van de Ven this summer, but with Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, and Japhet Tanganga all connected with departures, another signing wouldn’t hurt.
Schuurs appears to be at the top of Postecoglou’s shortlist. As previously said, Arsenal have contemplated signing the Dutchman as Mikel Arteta seeks cover for the injured Jurrien Timber.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is also a great fan of Schuurs, although the Reds have yet to sign him.
Tottenham, on the other hand, is now leading the push for the Torino star’s signature, and they are working hard to complete a deal as quickly as possible.
Tottenham could still make a move for Schuurs if they sell some of their center-backs this summer, according to Daily Mail reporter Sambi Mokbel.
Mokbel stated on Last Word on Spurs: “I think Perr Schuurs has legs, and they have looked at that deal a lot over the summer.”
“For some reason, they haven’t pressed the button on that, but it will be interesting to see how Tottenham reacts if Eric Dier goes out.”
“At the moment, he’s not in the plans at all.” If he leaves, they will, in my opinion, need to replace him.”
According to reports, Torino values Schuurs at over £34 million, therefore Tottenham will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a trade done.
Schuurs is an intimidating presence on the pitch, standing 6ft3 and excelling in the air. In addition, he averages 1.97 tackles per game, placing him in the top 19% of centre-backs in Europe’s five major leagues over the last 12 months.
Last season, he appeared in 30 Serie A games for Torino. He contributed to his team’s nine clean sheets by putting in some strong defensive performances.
