Real Sociedad have selected Sergio Reguilon as a target, according to the print edition of AS (31/07/23 – as supplied by Sport Witness), and are making positive advances in their efforts to recruit the Tottenham player
According to the source, Sociedad are looking to buy a left-back before the start of the new season, with Reguilon being one of the names at the top of the club’s wishlist.
The club’s interest in the Spurs star is said to have ‘never stopped,’ with the La Liga side making their first contact with the North London club about the player back in June.
Sociedad are thought to have pursued moves for Manchester City’s Sergio Gomez and Paris Saint-Germain’s Juan Bernat since then.
Real Sociedad is making progress on the Reguilon transaction.
However, the club has renewed contact with Tottenham regarding Reguilon, and there are now’signs of [the deal] succeeding’ for the former Real Madrid player.
According to the source, there is some optimism about the move following ‘fresh contacts’ between the two clubs, but it is unclear whether Sociedad wants to sign the 26-year-old on loan or permanently.

Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie are expected to compete for the left-back position coming season, which means Reguilon will be surplus to requirements.
I do not believe Ryan Sessegnon’s injury will alter Tottenham’s ambitions for the Spaniard, but the club will most likely have to loan him out again because few clubs in La Liga can afford an acceptable transfer fee for the 26-year-old.
