Tottenham officials met with Bayern Munich officials on Monday to explore a transfer for Kane, but Sky Sports says that the Bundesliga giants are still £20 million short of Spurs’ asking price.

Nonetheless, Tottenham have been connected with a number of strikers as they prepare for Kane’s departure.

According to Football Transfers, Spurs are pondering a loan move for Romelu Lukaku.

According to the source, Ange Postecoglou is eager to sign the Belgian striker, with Spurs prepared to cover his £300,000-a-week salary.

With Postecoglou allegedly interested in signing Lukaku, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is also a big supporter of the striker.

Conte on Lukaku: Speaking to L’Equipe ahead of the 2021 European Championships, Conte praised Lukaku as one of the best attackers in the world.

Of course, the Italian previously worked with Lukaku at Inter Milan, and the Chelsea striker blossomed under his tutelage.

“Right now, he’s one of the best strikers in the world,” Conte remarked of his star striker. “He already possessed significant physical and technical abilities, but we have helped him advance even further in the last two years.”

“His presence in the match, teamwork, and clarity in front of goal [has improved].”

It’s fair to say that Lukaku’s £97.5 million move to Chelsea didn’t go as planned, as he revealed his desire to return to Milan just months after arriving in West London.

He spent last season on loan at Inter, but the Nerazzurri backed out of a permanent move this summer after learning he was also in talks with Juventus.

Lukaku has shown he can compete in the Premier League throughout his time at Everton and West Bromwich Albion. However, if Kane goes, it would be a great surprise if Spurs moved for him.

While he has excellent aerial and box skills, he does not appear to be a good fit for Postecoglou’s style of play.
