According to Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian is ‘on the verge’ of leaving Liverpool and will undergo medical testing if all goes well.

Fabinho’s move to Al-Ittihad had been in the works for a while, and he looked poised to leave Anfield with Jordan Henderson, but complications in the transaction meant he had to return to Merseyside for training this week.

when journalist David Ornstein claimed that the midfielder’s departure would be announced this week, the deal appears to be nearing conclusion when Fabinho signed to a three-year contract with Al-Ittihad.

Liverpool, according to Romano, are’still cautious’ since documentation must be reviewed, but all sides are convinced they can close the deal this weekend.

Fabinho’s £40 million departure to Saudi Arabia is likely to coincide with the arrival of Romeo Lavia, for whom the Reds are presently negotiating a deal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had an early bid rejected by Southampton but are set to come back with a better offer, with the Saints holding out for £50 million for the 19-year-old.

Liverpool will leave regardless.

Liverpool paid £39 million to sign Fabinho from Monaco five years ago, and it appears that they will now sell him for a similar sum.

The Brazilian has been fantastic during his time on Merseyside and has been essential in their success under Klopp, but he appeared to be past his peak last season as he approaches his 30th birthday in October.

While he has three years left on his contract, Liverpool has struck a fantastic deal if Al-Ittihad is willing to pay £40 million for Fabinho.

The Brazilian international’s departure will cover a big portion of the Lavia transaction, while the Belgian could prove to be a steal if he can reach his full potential.
