Report: A’sensational’ player has been barred from first-team training, barely two years after leaving Liverpool.

Georginio Wijnaldum is said to have been barred from training with PSG’s first squad, with new manager Luis Enrique eager to transfer the former Liverpool star this summer

According to RMC Sport, players on the Parisian club’s transfer list will be training away from the senior team, a list that includes Wijnaldum, who has struggled to make an impression in France since signing from Liverpool in 2021.

Wijnaldum, once described as sensational by Jurgen Klopp, was instrumental in Liverpool’s Premier League and UEFA Champions League triumphs before joining PSG when his contract expired two years ago. However, things have not gone as planned for the Dutch international since leaving Anfield.

After a dismal first season in Paris, Wijnaldum joined AS Roma on loan last summer. However, injury hampered the midfielder’s performances under Jose Mourinho, and PSG are now looking to move the 32-year-old permanently this year.

Indeed, few expected Wijnaldum to do so poorly in Ligue 1 with PSG. With the former Newcastle United man currently training away from the first-team, the Liverpool hero might be on the move shortly.

Wijnaldum will be eager to depart PSG as soon as feasible.
