Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to trade Oliver Skipp this summer, according to TalkSPORT writer Alex Crook.
Spurs have opened the transfer window in spectacular fashion. They extended Dejan Kulusevski‘s loan spell and added Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison to Ange Postecoglou‘s squad.
The emphasis remains on incomings, but Tottenham also has to move a few players out the door, and Crook said on talkSPORT that Skipp may be one of them.
Tottenham are prepared to offload Oliver Skipp this summer.
Oliver Skipp is a Tottenham Hotspur fan favorite, and with good reason.
The 22-year-old came up through the Spurs system and has impressed in the senior squad. Last season, he scored an incredible worldie against Chelsea, prompting Harry Kane to call him ‘unbelievable’ after the game (BBC Sport).
Even when virtually every Tottenham player failed last season, Skipp was among those who stepped up, which is particularly impressive for a player his age.
Many see him as the future of Tottenham‘s midfield, but Crooks believes Postecoglou would trade him if Spurs receive a good offer this summer.
“Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for the likes of Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, and possibly even Pierre Hojbjerg in midfield, who didn’t have the best season last time around,” the journalist added of all the players Tottenham is willing to let go.Then there are Harry Winks and Olly Skipp, who will be permitted to depart if Tottenham receives a good offer.”
TBR Opinion:
We don’t see this occurring.
Oliver Skipp made a few errors for Tottenham at the conclusion of last season, but he is a really gifted player, and the fact that he is still just 22 years old means he can only improve in the future years.
In addition, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is slated to depart the club this summer, while Rodrigo Bentancur isn’t anticipated to return for a few months.
Skipp, who has four years remaining on his contract, still has a significant role to play for Spurs, and we’d be surprised if he’s moved this summer.
