Tottenham’s second acquisition of the summer transfer window appears to be James Maddison, and all eyes are now on who the north London club’s third signing will be.
After potentially obtaining a new goalkeeper and a new playmaker, the focus must now move to acquiring new defenders, and according to The Standard, negotiations for Edmond Tapsoba are underway.
The Bayern Leverkusen center-back has been linked with a transfer to Tottenham for some time now, and the ‘frightening’ defender is still in negotiations.
This would be yet another wonderful signing for Spurs, and if they can get this one through, things would be looking good.
Indeed, with a new manager, a new goalkeeper, a new defender, and a new center-back possibly in place, Spurs may have what it takes to make a strong start to the season next year.
Unfortunately, Tapsoba‘s presence would not instantly solve all of Spurs’ problems.
The fact is that Harry Kane is still in the final year of his contract, and this collection of players has repeatedly failed to make anything happen at the domestic or European level.
This appears to be a new-look Tottenham, but we’ve been here before.
Let’s not forget that this time last year, we were all talking about how Tottenham had won the transfer window after adding players like Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, and Ivan Perisic, but as we all know, none of those players had the expected effect at Spurs.
Fingers crossed that this crop of new players does not meet the same fate, but while the early indicators are encouraging, Spurs fans should be wary of getting carried away by these additions.
