According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool has a chance to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea for a “bargain fee” this summer

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, and Jacobs believes the “Jurgen Klopp factor” could play a significant role in convincing him to join Liverpool.

The Reds are unlikely to finish in the top four this season, which means they may struggle to attract top players without access to the Champions League, but they are looking to revamp the squad with several new signings.

Mount’s contract at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end, and there are concerns that he will leave. Mount has been widely reported to be one of Liverpool’s top targets this summer, but Jacobs says it’s unclear how the situation will play out, as Mauricio Pochettino could persuade the England international to stay in West London.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea want close to £80 million for Mount, but Liverpool will look to significantly reduce that price and sign Mount on a “bargain fee” if he decides to leave his boyhood club.

“There’s also the Klopp factor, and despite the fact that Liverpool has had, so far, a more disappointing season than they would have liked.

Because Klopp is still there, and a number of other Liverpool players will remain even after the revamp, it’s clear where Mount fits in, whereas at Chelsea it may have been less clear.

“However, the Mauricio Pochettino factor, as well as the fact that Chelsea will continue to formally speak with Mount, means that nothing is final at this point.” Because the contract is coming to an end, Liverpool sees a window of opportunity to potentially acquire Mount for a low price.”

What is the Klopp factor?
We saw Liverpool fans bid farewell to Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner over the weekend, and it’s clear that Klopp needs to add new midfielders.

Alexis MacAllister of Brighton has been heavily linked, and it appears that the Reds will sign him this summer. Despite the fact that Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold have excelled towards the end of the season, Klopp believes he needs more than one midfielder.

Mount, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, has a wealth of Premier League experience and could elevate his game under Klopp. However, keep in mind that he will also demand high wages, which could be another major impediment.

Most importantly, Mount may still decide to stay with Chelsea, in which case Liverpool will have to look for other options.
