Ruben Neves said an emotional farewell to Wolves fans on Saturday, amid reports that Liverpool is interested in the 26-year-old midfielder

The former FC Porto star was one of three players to applaud the Molineux crowd one last time, according to the Athletic, with Neves, Adama Traore, and Raul Jiminez all expected to leave Wolves at the end of the season.

Liverpool are one of many clubs interested in signing Neves this summer, according to 90min, and the midfielder’s actions and emotions at Wolves this weekend following their 1-1 draw against Everton all but confirmed that the Portuguese international will be off this summer.

With Liverpool looking for at least three central midfielders, Neves could be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side given his incredible wealth of Premier League experience as well as his impressive quality, with the Wolves man praised for his passing range and long-range efforts.

Indeed, while the Reds may prefer a younger midfielder than Neves, Klopp may be open to bringing in a slightly older player who is nearing the end of his career, and the Wolves star may relish the opportunity to play for a club as big as Liverpool.

The signing of Neves by Liverpool could be a match made in heaven.

Neves may not be the world-class midfield signing that Liverpool fans are hoping for this summer, but based on his Premier League record, it’s difficult to see why the Portuguese international would be a flop if he moves to Anfield in the coming weeks.

As we all know, Neves has been Wolves’ best player since their promotion to the Premier League, and at 26, the midfielder is nearing his peak, which Liverpool could benefit greatly from in the coming seasons if Klopp can get the best out of the former Porto man.
