Although it may have been a difficult season for Liverpool, manager Jurgen Klopp is confident that his team can compete next year

In order to ensure that Liverpool is a title contender again the following season, Jurgen Klopp thinks they can make enough improvements this summer.

With league leaders Manchester City 20 points ahead of them and locked in a title race with Arsenal, the Reds enter the final two weeks of the season in fifth place with little hope of finishing in the top four.

Liverpool will finish outside the top two for just the second time in five seasons, and the decline from last season’s overall level has occasionally been worrisome.

However, a recent resurgence has seen Klopp’s team go eight games without a loss, and they go into Monday’s game against Leicester City hoping to make it seven straight victories.

A successful season is when you are prepared for every game, can win 25 or so games, and it is even better if City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all involved in those 25.

But the question is, can we put together a team that can win the majority of games? Yes. We can. What the other teams did was never a concern. There will be some who will claim that the reason we failed to win the championship both times was because we lacked this player at the crucial moment.

No one should take these things for granted, and getting 90 or so points is absolutely insane and pretty special. It will be harder and more competitive as the top seven get even closer together. Even though it doesn’t make it any simpler, everyone with a good idea has a chance to contribute. You have a chance to succeed if you take part in the battle there.

I never questioned these boys, Klopp continued. Never. These boys really are exceptional in terms of their mentality. However, we were still unable to consistently produce strong, successful football for extended stretches of the season.

“We couldn’t, or we would already be elsewhere. Is that typical for people? Yes, the time frame was a little too long. Everyone feels relieved to be winning convincingly once more and not losing three points.

“We know exactly what we want to do. We only prevailed by a single point, but I still saw a lot of positives. Nothing will appear on Match of the Day, but I saw a lot of things in these games. We all agree that it took a little too long before we showed our reaction, but I’m perfectly fine with it right now. All we can do is focus on the final three matches and try to win them.
