After Wolves’ heavy defeat yesterday, pundit Chris Sutton was unimpressed with Liverpool target Matheus Nunes

Sutton was working on BT Sport Score yesterday when he witnessed Brighton’s 6-0 victory.

Despite Roberto De Zerbi’s rotation, Julen Lopetegui’s side simply couldn’t compete with their hosts yesterday.

Pascal Gross, Deniz Undav, and Danny Welbeck all scored braces to give Brighton a record Premier League victory.

Matheus Nunes started on the left side for Wolves yesterday, a position he has rarely played since joining the Premier League.

He’s a versatile player, but he couldn’t handle Brighton’s attack yesterday.

The £42 million midfielder is much better suited to playing in a central role, where Liverpool desperately needs reinforcements.

Liverpool have been linked with Nunes since his summer move to Wolves.

They’re still interested, but they may have been disappointed by what they saw from the Portuguese yesterday.

Liverpool has been linked to Nunes’ struggles for Wolves.

Sutton was speaking about Undav’s second goal of the game, Brighton’s sixth.

“It’s another defensive blunder from Wolves at the back,” he said. A goalkeeper error is also present.

Nunes is the one who gives the ball away. He’s played everywhere for the Wolves but not very well.”

Wolves have had a rollercoaster season, with Bruno Lage sacked after a poor start to the season.

Julen Lopetegui has almost certainly done enough this season to keep them in the Premier League.

The addition of Matheus Nunes to the Wolves squad would have piqued Liverpool’s interest.

His dribbling has been praised, and his goal against Chelsea was compared to Marco van Basten’s.

Liverpool will be watching Wolves this summer to see if they are willing to sell Nunes.

They may require the Reds to pay a significant premium for his signature, given that he has only been with the club for a year.

Liverpool have plenty of other midfield options, and Nunes’ asking price may prevent him from moving.

The Wolves will be relieved to retain one of their most valuable assets.

However, they will need to see a significant improvement from him and the rest of the team for the rest of the season.
