Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been linked with a move to Anfield, according to Liverpool transfer news
Frank Lampard has admitted that he has ‘no idea’ whether Mason Mount has played his final game for Chelsea.
After suffering a pelvic injury, the midfielder’s season appears to be over.
Mount’s current contract at Stamford Bridge runs out in June 2024. However, talks have broken down, with the England international reportedly demanding a contract similar to that of fellow academy graduate Reece James.
Mount’s situation has piqued the interest of Liverpool, who plan to bolster their midfield options during the summer transfer window. Jurgen Klopp has put off signing Jude Bellingham in order to maximize his budget and sign at least two midfielders.
But Lampard, who is currently acting as interim Chelsea manager, is unsure whether Mount will leave the club in the summer, with Arsenal and Manchester United also interested.
“I don’t know the answer to that [if he has played his final game for Chelsea], it’s a conversation between Mason and the club,” Lampard said. It’s not final yet, and we’ll have to wait and see because those discussions are ongoing.
“It’s a shame for me because I think everyone knows how I feel about working with Mason, and I like to think he feels the same way about me, and we could have done with him in the games we’ve already played this season.”
“But the bigger picture is something that will become clearer in the coming weeks and months, and that is the club and Mason talking together.”
