Mateo Kovacic, the Chelsea midfielder, is facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge

The Croatian, who joined Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid, has since become an important member of the Blues’ midfield. Kovacic is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and the 28-year-old has plenty of suitors.

CFC signed Kovacic on a permanent basis in the summer of 2019, and he has been a key player under managers Maurizio Sarri, Frank Lampard, and Thomas Tuchel. Kovacic has been bothered by niggles this season, but he is now a regular in the midfield alongside Enzo Fernandez.

Kovacic’s current Chelsea contract is set to expire in the next 12 months, and negotiations for a contract extension have made little progress. Chelsea’s rivals and some of the Premier League’s top six clubs are keeping an eye on the situation because his future is not tied to the club and he has one year left on his contract.

Mateo Kovacic, a Chelsea midfielder, could leave in the summer.
According to 90min, Kovacic’s representatives have flown to England to meet with representatives from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United. CFC is prepared to sell the Croatian if a new agreement is not reached soon.

His entourage will speak with Chelsea about the contract, but talks with other top Premier League clubs have already been scheduled. Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United have all expressed interest in the 28-year-old midfielder and are keeping tabs on him.

Liverpool is in the process of revitalizing their midfield. They are also keeping an eye on Mason Mount, whose contract negotiations have stalled. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has long admired Kovacic’s talent, so his availability will naturally draw the club into the race.

CFC will not be afraid to spend big money in the summer transfer window as they continue to seek midfield options. Declan Rice has been a long-term target for the Blues, while Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has piqued the Blues’ interest with his outstanding performances in a Southampton shirt. Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach is also mentioned as a transfer target, and if Chelsea signs any of the aforementioned targets, selling Kovacic will help them fund the move.

Kovacic met with AC Milan’s management a few weeks ago and offered himself for the summer. If a new contract is not signed, the former Real Madrid player will most likely be sold, with clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City willing to pay a premium. Transfermarkt values him at £35.6 million.
