Trent Alexander-Arnold is no stranger to criticism these days, and he’s been the focus of attention following this weekend’s game against Leeds as well
Indeed, Alexander-defensive Arnold’s shortcomings were on display once again against the reigning Premier League champions, with Jack Grealish having a field day against the Reds.
Gregor Robertson of The Times’ The Game Podcast slammed Alexander-Arnold for his positioning and body language, claiming that the right-body back’s language during the game was atrocious.
Alexander-Arnold took a step back.
Robertson rendered his decision on the right-back.
“There are no solutions, and they’re at a crossroads with their midfield issues and the need to strengthen at the heart of the defense, but both full-backs don’t look like the same players.” Trent Alexander-Arnold was just played around for Grealish’s goal and his body language was atrocious, he didn’t chase back in, they look a shadow of their former selves and it’s looking like the beginning of the end for Jurgen Klopp,” Robertson said.
I’m getting tired of it.
Alexander-Robertson is correct.Arnold’s body language wasn’t great over the weekend, but can you blame him?
His team has lost three games in a row, and their chances of finishing in the top four are dwindling with each passing game.
Alexander-Arnold has every right to appear disinterested; he’s used to the highest of standards on the football field, and with both his own and his team’s performances falling short, we can understand why he might be losing interest in the game.
