Caleb Wilson received some bulletin board fodder before his college debut

The five-star freshman Caleb Wilson was blatantly disrespected by The Field of 68 crew

It’s no secret that The Field of 68 has a clear bias against the UNC basketball program, and their latest example comes from their preseason ranking of the ACC’s top freshmen. On a list where Wilson should’ve been near the top, you have to scroll halfway down to find his name — somehow ranked only as the No. 5 freshman in the ACC heading into the 2025–26 season.

Now, to be fair, no one’s arguing that Wilson should’ve been No. 1 — that spot rightfully belongs to Cameron Boozer. But ranking players like Neoklis Avdalas and Thijs De Ridder (who, by the way, is 22 years old) ahead of Wilson is downright ridiculous.

Calling them “freshmen” is already a stretch, and it’s becoming obvious that The Field of 68 will do whatever it takes to downplay anything positive related to UNC basketball.

Wilson clearly noticed the disrespect. He even took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank them for the “bulletin board material” before deleting the post — likely realizing they weren’t worth his energy. Still, that chip on his shoulder will only fuel him as he begins his much-anticipated college career.

And if Wilson performs the way many expect him to, you can bet that this ranking — and his deleted post — will come back around in a big way.
