FBI Seeks Public’s Help After Fatal Shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University
Utah Valley University was shaken on Tuesday evening, September 10, when conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a live speaking event. The FBI and local law enforcement are now urgently asking the public for help in identifying a person of interest believed to be connected to the shooting.
A Shocking Attack During a Campus Event
Kirk had been speaking at a “Prove Me Wrong” event, part of his American Comeback Tour, when a single gunshot rang out around 7:30 p.m. Witnesses reported chaos as students and attendees scrambled for safety inside the packed venue.
Law enforcement officials later confirmed that the shot appeared to have been fired from a rooftop approximately 200 yards away from the stage where Kirk was standing. Despite immediate efforts by emergency personnel, Kirk succumbed to his injuries.
Person of Interest Caught on Video
Video footage captured by students and university security cameras shows an individual running across the roof of the Losee Center immediately after the gunfire. Authorities have described this figure as a “person of interest” and emphasized that the public’s assistance is crucial in identifying them.
Two individuals were initially detained in the aftermath, but investigators later confirmed they were not involved. No arrests have been made as of Thursday morning, and the shooter’s identity remains unknown.

National Shockwaves
The shooting has sparked outrage and grief across the country. Supporters have described Kirk’s death as a tragic loss for conservative politics, while university officials expressed heartbreak that such violence unfolded on their campus.
“This is not just an attack on one man; it is an attack on the spirit of open debate and free speech that universities are supposed to protect,” one student attendee told reporters.
What Comes Next
As investigators continue to piece together the events leading to the shooting, officials are urging the public not to spread unverified information and instead channel any evidence to law enforcement. The person of interest remains at large, and the motive for the attack is still under investigation.
For now, the nation waits as the FBI intensifies its search hoping that with the public’s help, justice for Charlie Kirk will be delivered.
