Dynamic Winger Djeidi Gassama Joins Rangers After Standout Championship Spell

Exciting 21-year-old winger Djeidi Gassama has officially become the latest attacking addition to Russell Martin’sRangers squad, following two strong seasons in the EFL Championship.


Gassama began his journey with PSG’s youth setup in 2019 after impressing at Stade Brestois. He signed his first professional deal in July 2020 and made his senior debut two years later in a 4-0 victory over Montpellier—sharing the pitch with global icons Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé. His progress earned him a France U20 call-up in September 2022, where he featured twice against Tunisia.


Rangers have signed Djeidi Gassama from Sheffield Wednesday.

To gain first-team experience, the winger spent a season on loan with KAS Eupen in Belgium, playing 19 games and scoring twice. Upon returning to Paris, Sheffield Wednesday secured his services in the summer of 2023. Gassama made an immediate impact at Hillsborough, featuring in over 30 games in his debut campaign.


The young Frenchman continued his upward trajectory in the most recent season, appearing in all but three league matches. He was instrumental in the EFL Cup clash against Brentford, scoring in the penalty shootout, and was named Player of the Month in January. Gassama finished the year with nine goal contributions, including a stunning comeback winner against Norwich City in March.


After sealing his move to Ibrox, Gassama expressed his delight:

“I am very happy to be here and to join the club. It’s a team with great history, and I’m excited for this next step in my career. I think Rangers can help me progress.”
