Devin Booker inks lucrative contract extension with the Suns.

Devin Booker Commits to Phoenix with Record-Breaking Extension

Devin Booker, already the Phoenix Suns’ all-time leading scorer at just 28, is staying put in the Valley. The four-time All-Star has agreed to a two-year, $145 million maximum contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2029–30 season. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, it marks the highest annual extension in NBA history.

By the time his new deal ends, Booker—who has already earned nearly $216 million over his career—will approach $400 million in total NBA earnings. His financial journey includes a five-year, $158 million extension signed in 2018, followed by a four-year, $220 million deal in 2022.

Booker holds the Suns’ franchise records for total points (16,452) and three-pointers made (1,424). His career scoring average of 24.4 points per game trails only Kevin Durant and Charlie Scott among Suns players. Since entering the league, he’s scored 22 or more points per game in each of the past nine seasons.

Now in his 10th NBA season, Booker has compiled career averages of 24.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists while shooting 46.4% from the field, 35.4% from three, and 87.3% from the free-throw line over 673 games (648 starts).

A two-time All-NBA selection, Booker played all 75 games last season, averaging 25.6 points and a career-best 7.1 assists per game. He’s also been a key contributor for Team USA, winning Olympic gold medals at both the 2020 Tokyo Games and 2024 Paris Games. His accolades also include winning the NBA 3-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles in 2018.

Among Booker’s most memorable achievements are becoming the youngest player in league history to score 70 points in a single game and the youngest ever to post back-to-back 50-point outings.

Drafted 13th overall by the Suns in 2015 after one season at Kentucky, Booker averaged 10.0 points off the bench and was named the SEC Sixth Man of the Year. A former McDonald’s All-American and top-25 recruit out of Moss Point High School in Mississippi, he chose Kentucky over offers from Michigan, Michigan State, and Missouri.

Now, Booker’s legacy in Phoenix continues to grow—both on the court and in the record books.
