Cameron Boozer Set to Take College Basketball by Storm in 2025-26 Season

By all accounts, Duke’s incoming freshman Cameron Boozer isn’t just a name to watch he’s projected to be one of the best players in all of college basketball in the 2025-26 season. With elite pedigree, a dominant high school résumé, and NBA-ready skills, Boozer is expected to make an immediate impact for the Blue Devils, potentially racking up All-ACC and even All-American honors in what may be his only season in Durham.

Big Expectations for Day One Dominance

In a recent conversation with On3’s James Fletcher III, On3 Insider Jamie Shaw didn’t mince words when discussing Boozer’s college readiness. “He’s going to come in this year and put up astronomical numbers from day one,” Shaw said. “You can pencil him in for 18 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists from the jump.”

Boozer isn’t just another freshman he’s expected to be the centerpiece of Duke’s offense the moment he steps onto the court. And with Duke being one of college basketball’s biggest stages, the spotlight will be firmly on him from the beginning.

A Decorated Path to Durham

Cameron Boozer arrives at Duke after a historic high school career at Columbus (FL), where he led his team to four straight state championships and capped it all with a national title at the 2025 Chipotle Nationals. Along the way, he earned a long list of accolades:

  • Three-time Florida Mr. Basketball
  • Two-time Gatorade National Player of the Year
  • McDonald’s All-American
  • Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit participant
  • USA Basketball standout in multiple FIBA events

Ranked No. 3 overall in the 2025 recruiting class behind only AJ Dybantsa (BYU) and Darryn Peterson (Kansas)—Boozer is the No. 1 power forward and top prospect out of Florida according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Legacy and Loyalty

Following in the footsteps of his father, Duke Hall of Famer Carlos Boozer, Cameron turned down offers from Florida, Miami, and others to join The Brotherhood. He’ll also be teaming up with his twin brother, Cayden Boozer, forming a rare family tandem in college basketball. Together, they headline Duke’s No. 1 recruiting class, alongside top talents Nikolas Khamenia, Sebastian Wilkins, and Dame Sarr.

Eyes Already on the NBA Draft

While the focus for now is on his collegiate debut, Boozer’s NBA prospects are already drawing attention. As part of what’s expected to be a stacked 2026 NBA Draft class, Boozer is viewed as a near lock to go in the top five. Still, his case marked by a high floor will be measured against prospects with higher perceived ceilings.

“It’s going to be interesting to see draft philosophies unfold,” said Shaw. “How does the high floor of a Boozer match with the high ceiling of a Chris Cenac, for example? Someone like Cenac might average 11 and 4 in college, while Boozer could be First Team All-American with 19 and 8. How do you weigh that?”

The Next Freshman Phenom

Whatever questions may linger about his draft stock a year from now, what’s certain is that Cameron Boozer is walking into Duke as the next great freshman phenom. With his combination of skill, maturity, and experience under pressure, Boozer has all the tools to dominate the college game and carry on the legacy of both his family and the Duke basketball tradition.

The countdown is on and all eyes will be on Boozer when the ball tips this fall.
