Will Wade Wastes No Time Blasting Hubert Davis — Sparks War Over UNC Transfer!
Will Wade hadn’t even settled into his office at NC State before firing his first shots at UNC head coach Hubert Davis. In a viral clip making waves online, Wade doesn’t hold back when talking about new Wolfpack transfer Ven-Allen Lubin — who just so happens to have bolted from Chapel Hill.
“The other school was too dumb to play him,” Wade said, referring to UNC. “When he plays 28+ minutes, he averages 15 and 8. I don’t know why they didn’t play him, but we will — and he’s gonna average 15 and 8.”
Translation? Wade just accused Hubert Davis of mismanaging his roster.

And while some UNC fans might actually agree — considering complaints about player development last season — others are already sharpening their pitchforks. After all, Lubin only topped 28 minutes in five games, and UNC was severely undersized in the frontcourt all year. At 6-foot-8, Lubin wasn’t exactly a Bacot-style must-play big man.
Don’t forget: UNC made it a priority to bulk up this offseason, adding 7-footer Henri Veesaar, while Lubin bailed at the last second.
Wade’s comments weren’t just a critique — they were a challenge.
Now, the stage is set: UNC vs. NC State just got personal. Tar Heel fans will be watching closely — and they’ll be ready to remind Wade of every word if Lubin doesn’t deliver in Raleigh.
Get your popcorn ready. This rivalry just got nuclear.
