South Carolina Star MiLaysia Fulwiley Enters Transfer Portal After Two Seasons with Gamecocks
South Carolina women’s basketball standout MiLaysia Fulwiley has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, as first reported by Lulu Kesin of The Greenville News and later confirmed by GamecockCentral.
A native of Columbia, Fulwiley spent two years with the Gamecocks after a stellar high school career at Keenan High School. In her time wearing garnet and black, she earned Freshman All-SEC honors, was named the SEC Sixth Woman of the Year as a sophomore, and made All-SEC second team — all while helping lead South Carolina to a perfect national championship season in 2024.
Though her play was occasionally inconsistent, Fulwiley’s athleticism and skill made her one of the most electrifying players in the country. Known for her jaw-dropping handles and flashy finishes, the 5-foot-10 guard quickly became a fan favorite — going viral in her debut with a behind-the-back layup — and continued producing highlight-reel moments throughout her college career.
Over her two seasons with South Carolina, Fulwiley averaged:
-
11.7 points
-
2.9 rebounds
-
2.0 assists
-
1.6 steals
-
0.8 blocks per game
She also made history off the court, becoming the first college athlete to sign an NIL deal with Steph Curry’s Curry Brand, releasing her own player-edition sneakers.

Fulwiley will be one of the most coveted players in the portal, with two years of eligibility remaining and a clear path toward a future in the WNBA.
Despite her departure — along with the graduation of Te-Hina Paopao and Bree Hall — the Gamecocks’ backcourt remains strong. Raven Johnson has confirmed her return, and top-tier talents like Tessa Johnson and Maddy McDaniel are set to return. South Carolina also landed a major portal addition in Florida State transfer and 2024 national scoring leader Ta’Niya Latson, with more portal moves expected in the coming weeks.
As of now, South Carolina has four open scholarships, though that number may change depending on additional roster movement.
Fulwiley’s next chapter will be one to watch — and wherever she lands, she’ll bring elite playmaking and star power with her.
