BRISTOL, Conn. (South Carolina Athletics) — ESPN has officially revealed the matchups for the 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge, with South Carolina set to host Virginia Tech at Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday, December 2. Specific tip-off times and TV network details will be announced later.
The ACC/SEC Challenge, which debuted in 2023, has been good to the Gamecocks so far. South Carolina holds a perfect 2-0 record in the event, with victories over Notre Dame in Columbia (2023) and Boston College on the road last season. While the SEC dominated with a 14-2 record in 2024, the two conferences split the inaugural games evenly, 7-7.

Historically, South Carolina holds a 20-13 edge in the series against Virginia Tech. Most recently, the Gamecocks edged the Hokies 79-77 early in the 2023 season in Charlotte’s Spectrum Center. That game marked the programs’ first meeting since 1997 and gave head coach Lamont Paris his 100th career win, highlighted by B.J. Mack’s clutch go-ahead basket with 20 seconds remaining.
Carolina followed up with another victory over Virginia Tech, 70-60, in the third-place game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off. That performance included 11 made three-pointers and a standout stat line from All-SEC forward Collin Murray-Boyles, who tallied 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
