“KY Til I Die Goes Global”: Jasper Johnson to Represent Team USA at U19 World Cup

Lexington, KY — Big Blue Nation is going global  and it’s bringing one of Kentucky’s brightest stars with it.

Jasper Johnson, the five-star guard and Kentucky commit in the class of 2025, has officially been selected to represent the United States in the upcoming FIBA U19 World Cup. The elite international tournament, which brings together the top young talent from across the globe, will now feature the signature swagger and smooth scoring of Kentucky’s very own future Wildcat.

Johnson’s selection is more than just a personal milestone  it’s a statement. A statement that Kentucky basketball still attracts world-class talent, and that players wearing the blue and white don’t just dominate college hoops they represent their country at the highest levels of international play.

From Woodford County to the World

Jasper Johnson has never been shy about where his heart lies. His motto?
“KY til I die.”

Now, the homegrown star from Woodford County will carry that pride across the globe, suiting up with USA Basketball’s U19 squad in a tournament packed with future NBA lottery picks and international phenoms.

Johnson, a 6’4” combo guard known for his silky handle, deep shooting range, and elite feel for the game, has risen quickly in the national rankings and now finds himself on one of the biggest stages for a high school player.

Big-Time Company

Johnson won’t be alone. The U19 roster is absolutely stacked with elite names  many of whom are fellow five-star recruits or future college stars. His teammates will include several top-10 prospects, and the squad is expected to be a heavy favorite heading into the tournament.

This also gives Johnson a head start in building chemistry with other future college (and potentially NBA) teammates. With high-level practices, international experience, and exposure to USA Basketball’s training system, this experience will sharpen his game before he even arrives in Lexington.

What This Means for Kentucky

Mark Pope and the Kentucky coaching staff have already secured one of the most talented and dynamic classes in the country. But Johnson’s USA Basketball selection adds another layer of validation showing that their incoming talent isn’t just elite on paper, it’s elite in action.

Johnson’s presence on the international stage gives Kentucky fans a sneak peek at the leadership, poise, and clutch shot-making he’ll bring to Rupp Arena in 2025. The U19 World Cup has been a launching pad for numerous NBA stars, from Jayson Tatum to Cade Cunningham. If Johnson’s trajectory follows the same path, Kentucky may have another one-and-done star on its hands.

Bottom Line:

“KY til I die” just went global.

Jasper Johnson is taking his Kentucky pride to the world stage as he suits up for Team USA at the U19 World Cup.
He’s not just representing the United States  he’s representing the future of Kentucky basketball.
And from the looks of it, the future is in very good hands.
