Otega Oweh to Host Youth Basketball Camp in Lexington on July 23

Returning Kentucky Star Gives Back to Community With One-of-a-Kind Camp Experience for Local Youth

Otega Oweh is coming back to Lexington  and this time, he’s not just focused on championships. He’s focused on the kids.

Just weeks after withdrawing his name from the 2025 NBA Draft and announcing his return to the University of Kentucky for one final season, the All-SEC guard is wasting no time reconnecting with Big Blue Nation. His first order of business? Hosting a youth basketball camp designed to inspire and empower the next generation of Kentucky hoops hopefuls.

The inaugural Otega Oweh Basketball ProCamp is officially set for July 23 at Sports Center (3801 Mall Road, Lexington). Running from 3 PM to 6 PM, the camp welcomes boys and girls in grades 1 through 8, offering a rare and exciting opportunity for local youth to train directly with one of the biggest stars in college basketball.

“This community has meant everything to me,” Oweh said in a statement. “Now it’s my turn to give something back  to help young players grow, gain confidence, and have fun with the game that’s changed my life.”

With a focus on basketball fundamentals, interactive drills, and skill development, the camp promises a high-energy environment tailored to all skill levels  from beginners just learning the game to more seasoned players looking to refine their edge. Under Oweh’s leadership, campers will engage in position-specific instruction, competitive games, and motivational talks rooted in Oweh’s journey from high school standout to SEC star.

In addition to on-court instruction, every camper will receive:

  • A limited edition Otega Oweh Basketball ProCamp t-shirt
  • A personal photo with Oweh
  • The opportunity to bring an item for autograph signing
  • Direct feedback and Q&A time with the Kentucky star himself

“This is about more than basketball,” said a camp representative. “It’s about building confidence, teaching discipline, and helping kids believe in what’s possible  on and off the court. Otega is the perfect role model for that.”

The event will also feature a top-tier coaching staff, including some of the region’s most respected high school and college coaches, with a 10:1 camper-to-coach ratio ensuring personalized instruction. Campers will also have the chance to earn individual and team awards, making the experience as rewarding as it is unforgettable.

The camp is expected to fill quickly, with limited spots available. Early registration is encouraged to secure a place at what promises to be one of the most memorable youth events of the summer in Lexington.
