Kentucky’s 2025-26 Roster Is Almost Set

Kentucky’s 2025-26 Roster Is Almost Set After Otega Oweh’s Return — Will They Fill the Final Spot? 👀🏀

With Otega Oweh officially withdrawing from the 2025 NBA Draft and announcing his return to Lexington, the Kentucky Wildcats are one major step closer to completing their roster for the 2025-26 season and Big Blue Nation couldn’t be more excited.

Oweh’s decision to come back was a massive win for Mark Pope and the Kentucky staff. The explosive guard, who many considered a future All-American, instantly becomes one of the most experienced and dynamic players in the SEC. His return bolsters a Kentucky team already brimming with talent, versatility, and hunger for a national title.

Now, with Oweh back in the fold, the Wildcats have filled 14 of their 15 scholarship spots. But interestingly, there’s no rush to complete the roster just yet.

According to team insiders, Pope and his staff are comfortable keeping that final scholarship slot open at least for now. This could be strategic: saving the spot for a midseason transfer, an emerging late prospect, or even just allowing for flexibility in what’s become an ever-changing college basketball landscape.

It’s also a reflection of confidence in the current group. Between veterans, promising sophomores, and high-level transfers, Kentucky’s depth chart is loaded at every position. The roster appears balanced, with scoring, defense, and leadership well represented. And with Oweh’s leadership and experience returning to the backcourt, Pope now has a star he can rely on when the lights are brightest.

Here’s what we know:
✅ 14 scholarship players locked in
✅ A dynamic mix of youth and experience
✅ Star power with Oweh returning
✅ Championship-level expectations
✅ Flexibility with one roster spot left

As the offseason progresses, fans should expect Pope and his staff to monitor the portal, but don’t be surprised if the 15th spot remains unfilled. Sometimes, less is more   especially when your core is as strong and unified as Kentucky’s is shaping up to be.

And with Oweh leading the charge, the Wildcats just sent a message to the rest of college basketball: they’re not just reloaded  they’re ready to chase banner No. 9. 🏆🐱💙
