Will Otega Oweh Run It Back in Lexington?

As NBA Deadline Looms, Big Blue Nation Wonders: Will Otega Oweh Run It Back in Lexington?

With the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline fast approaching next week, a single question echoes throughout the halls of Rupp Arena, over social media timelines, and inside every Kentucky fan’s mind: Will Otega Oweh return for one more season in the blue and white?

The 6-foot-5 guard, who transferred to Kentucky from Oklahoma and quickly became a fan favorite with his fierce competitiveness, athleticism, and all-around game, has a major decision to make. Oweh declared for the 2025 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility  a smart move to test the waters and gather feedback from scouts and executives. But as the deadline to pull out and return to school nears, all eyes are on him.

Why His Return Would Be Massive for Kentucky

If Oweh chooses to return, it would be a game-changer for Mark Pope’s second-year roster. With his elite perimeter defense, physical slashing ability, and improved outside shot, Oweh projects as a potential SEC Player of the Year candidate. He’d instantly be one of the most experienced and productive wings in the conference  and exactly the kind of leader Kentucky needs to chase national title No. 9.

Pair him with the young talent coming in, alongside impact transfers like Kerr Kriisa and Amari Williams, and suddenly Kentucky’s lineup becomes one of the deepest and most versatile in the country. Oweh’s return could elevate Kentucky from a Top 25 team into a legitimate Final Four contender.

What’s the Buzz?

Sources around the program suggest Oweh has genuinely enjoyed his time in Lexington. He’s thrived in Pope’s fast-paced system and has built strong chemistry with teammates and coaches. He’s also been embraced by Big Blue Nation and he knows that returning could help him not only refine his game but raise his draft stock significantly for 2026.

But the NBA is always tempting. Oweh has the physical tools a long, strong frame, elite athleticism, and defensive potential  that intrigue scouts. If a team makes a promise late in the first or early second round, that could sway him to stay in.

The Clock is Ticking

The deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft and retain college eligibility is May 29. That means Oweh has just a few days left to weigh his options, consult with family and advisors, and decide whether to take the leap or return to college for one more go-around in Lexington.

So, BBN — What Do You Think?

Will Oweh chase the NBA dream now? Or will he return and help Kentucky chase banner number nine?
